OUR LOCATION

Altitude Hakuba is located on the Northern ridgeline of Mt Happo One, adjacent to the Sakka High Speed Quad chairlift. The lodge is above the chairlifts and and offers ski in ski out for most of the season. The area, known as Wadano, is perfectly situated in a quiet forested area offers a quaint and exclusive range of bars and restaurants.

Wadano is particularly unique in the area because is the only place on the mountain where skiiers and boarders of all abilities can enter the slopes. The beginners / childrens area is at the base of the Sakka Quad, which makes the area perfect for families with young children. For advanced skiers, the slopes above Wadano offer some of best steep terrain in the region.

THE HAKUBA REGION

Hakuba boasts the steepest runs of all Japan’s 600 ski resorts. The Hakuba area consists of 13 ski resorts that were the focus of the 1998 Winter Olympics. Mt Happo One (pronounced: 'Happo Oh-nay') is the largest of these resorts, and has the most terrain for skiers and boarders of all levels. Mt Happo One was host to the premier Olympic ski events such as the downhill, giant slalom, slalom and ski jumping events.

10 minutes to the South are the combined resorts of Hakuba47, Goryu and Imori, and 10 minutes North is Iwatake and Tsugaike Kogen.

A wide variety of accommodation complements the small village atmosphere. Consistent powder snow on the many challenging runs at Hakuba makes this region a must-do on the Japan ski circuit.

WHERE IN THE WORLD?

Hakuba is on Japan's main Island of Honshu, about 200 km NNW of Tokyo.

The closest city is the famous Olympic town of Nagano.

Hakuba is at latitude 36 N, and is quite temparate from spring to autumn.
